  1. The NIV is not heresy... but it is lacking in meaning in many areas. And in fact there are many verses just taken clear out of the NIV. The best modern translation I have found is the ESV.
  2. Your English is very very good! :D I perfer using the KJV, because the KJV is 100% accurate. There is an Americanized KJV here, if you prefer: http://kjv.us/john/1.htm But the NIV is missing verses and has changed verses: http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Bible/NIV/niv_deletes_verses.htm
  3. Yes. It is modern English. It seems to avoid slang and words particular to groups of English speakers. Pretty much anyone that speaks English should be able to understand it. Yes, people talk like the English in NIV. NIV is a good translation and is very popular also. All translations have their criticisms. Some think KJV is more accurate, but KJV is definitely not modern English and that is your question. It wouldn't be good to practice modern English from KJV. We all have our favorites.
  4. The NIV is called the International Version because it is really designed for people whose first language is not English. It has a small vocabulary and so lacks accuracy for Bible study but is very easy reading. I think it would be excellent if you want to use it for becoming better in English. It is very close to the way people speak in English.
  5. No no-one speaks like that - try this one
  6. the Bible has been translated and altered so many times that no version is anywhere near accurate especially the KJV. it was altered by King James to suit his own ends, like the persecution of innocent witches to distract from his own misdeed. Hence it being called the King James Version. where it talks about how you shouldn't suffer a witch to live, it should say wicked one instead of witch.
