Sell Resources

What natural resources are used to make steel and which countries have large amounts of these resources?

Does the United States have plentiful amounts of these natural resources or do they need to get steel from other nations? What about aluminum? If we have these natural resources, why aren't we making cars in the United States? Has our government made it more cost effective to manufacture on foreign soil and import than to produce in our nation and export?

  1. Iron, carbon, nickle, chromium are the ingredients of steel. Bauxite the mineral from which aluminum is derived is the most common compound found in the earths crust. Toyota, Honda, Mazda, BMW, and Volkswagen all have manufacturing plants here in the US.
  2. Coal makes the heat to put the element together and is the most important factor...Aluminum is made with electricity and the Northwest has more power than anywhere to use. The privatization of the power has shut down the plants because the big companies could make more money just selling the cheap power contracts so now we have no aluminum and no power half the turbines on the snake are stopped. That is how government can mess up a good thing. Regan started it and the trend to screw the workers is stronger than ever. Sounds like a Communist Idea.
  3. No the unions and big three management have. It has nothing to do with materials cost it has to do with labor cost. Labor costs are the largest factor in 90% of BUSINESS. Unions demanded more and more in the 70's and 80's and the management said yes without any strings, that has shown to be very bad management practices.
