How many natural resources do we have? I was just wondering what natural resources we could use to power the earth once all of the oil is gone, and I know about: 1. Solar Power 2. Hydroelectric Power 3. Wind Power (although this one may take some conservation) But that's it...I'm no environmentalist, but I still know that we have (and possibly need) other resources, but what are they?
What are ways we can conserve our natural resources? We need to conserve our natural resources in order for our children (the adults of the future) to have enough resources to use. I know scientists are looking for things to use besides oil, but we don't know what's going to happen. Share ways you can conserve water, oil, and other important things that are disappearing as we speak.

What would be the effect of rapid excavation of natural resources on EARTH? During the last century or so humans have been utilising or rather mis-utilising natural resources, which took many millions of years to form, at a very rapid pace. My question is whether this would lead to a vaccum in earths crust and maylead to natural disasters such as earth quakes as nature tries to fill those vaccums?
Why are countries that are the riches in natural resources the poorest economically? If you look at countries in Africa, and also countries like Iraq, Iran, and many other Middle Eastern Countries, besides the Saudia Arabia, and the UEE they are all rich with natural resources, but yet they are some of the poorest countries. Take Africa for instances, Africa as a continent has oil, gold, diamonds, charcoal, and many other valuable resources, but yet remains one of the most poverished places on the globe. Yet western nations like the US, and UK really have no natural resources to export but yet remain world powers. It seems it would be the other way around. What is the cost of this. Is this strictly a governmental thing. If Africa as a continent maintained a centralized govt. and provided for their people they would by far be a force to reckoned with. Potentially, they could make billions upon billions with legitimate exports, but yet they don't. What do you think about this issue?
Are we consuming more natural resources than Earth can reproduce? I saw in a documentary that the whole population is now using 20% more natural resources than Earth can reproduce. I don't know where this 20% comes from, but it makes me think more about environment. It is as with money: we can spend more money than we earn, but if you continue doing so, you will go bankrupt? Does it mean one day Earth will go bankrupt?

Should married couples bathe together as a way to save precious natural resources? My new husband and I have started to do this in order to minimize our use of water and natural gas to heat the water. What we do is take a 5 minute all business soapy shower to get the grime off so that the bath water doesn't become gray from soaking and washing (lol ) than we proceed to the bathtub where we leisurely soak in a nicly scented bubble bath. Besides saving natural resources it seems good for health because afterward, we both feel happy and relaxed. I believe if that became the norm than enough water and natural gas would be saved to power a city for at least a year. Dear Asshat He and I just got married this summer AFTER we graduated from high school. In the 12th grade we were boyfriend and girlfriend and after our prom weekend in May we became engaged because romance was in bloom and little Becky or Jamie entered our lives for the first time (we haven't been formerly introduced to him/her yet lol lol). I was a carefree single girl through most of the 12th grade. I love all the answers so far. To the nice person who gave me a rendition on Marxism, I thought Karl Marx developed the theory of Communism in Vienna Austria. One of my great great grandmothers who came from a religious Jewish family in the Pale of Russia married a handsome boy of 16 in an arranged marriage and the night of their marriage got pregnant. He left for the German Front never to be seen alive again. She became embittered and lost her faith and became a Communist Agitator in the new Utopia. Stalin cured her of communism when she died on the way to exile in Siberia.
Can legalizing abortions in developing countries be a propaganda to lessen their natural resources? In the Philippines, there is what we call the passing of our RH Bill, a Reproductive Health Bill. It argues and tries to present the rights of women and the effectivity of family planning. However, the pressure of passing this bill have been coming from abroad, particularly the UN, and overpopulation seems to be their primary cause. In recent statistical reports, the Philippines is not in fact overpopulated, and is in fact decreasing. If the RH Bill is ammended completely, can legalizing abortion in the Philippines be a propaganda for the UN or other developed countries to lessen its natural resources, ie. the human population?
When a country has no exploitable natural resources, industrialized nations take little interest in them. Why? No matter the internal conditions of the country (brutal dictators, deadly famine, etc), these countries are generally left alone, but if the country has usable natural resources, suddenly, it is of utmost importance that industrialized nations step in and "set things right". NOTE: I am specifically NOT including the United States in the mention of industrialized nations, so there is no need for blazing rhetoric or boiling emotions, in any responses.
Where can I find a map of Honduras that shows its natural resources? I am doing a Geography project, and it requires that I label the general areas where its natural resources I found on the map of the country I drew. The problem is, I can't find the locations that resources would be to replicate on my map. Anyone know where to find that map or keywords to search? Any help would be great, thanks!

What counts most paper money or natural resources? Africa is the richest continet in the world regarding natural resources, spiritual wealth, hospitality and wisdom. But it has become (by design) home to the poorest peole in the world in terms of financial wealth. In the long run is it more important to stand on a foundation of paper money or natural riches? Or is it better to make friends around the world so you could have a share of whatever the other has got? "Spotty" thanks for the words of encouragement and the hope you give. I believe the change in Africa is beginning to happen, I can recognise the baby steps towards positive change. Once again, thank God almighty for people like you.
are we running out of natural resources? I'm old enough to remember in the late 60's early 70's every news magazine had an artical and time table when vital natural resources would run out, several estimated around the year 2000, how are we doing?

Does anyone in Ohio know where a guy with 2 Associates degrees in Natural Resources? and 4 years of college in Natural Resources with a minor in Environmental Geology can get a job? I also have 7 years of experience. It seems like the only employer that hires people like me are states, and the Federal government and universities. These people mostly want Masters degrees. I am sick of going to school. Not into research work.

Is there anyone out there in Australia who can REALLY help us gain employment in the natural resources sector. We all hear how the natural resources sector in this country is booming, and almost everyone is leaving to work in Roxby Downs or Pilbara for instance but with no particular trade or licences at the moment, my friend is finding it really hard to find employment in any mining towns. However he has heaps of experience as a labourer in the building and construction industries. He also has a long working history in production and also hospitality ie bar, cleaning etc. Nick is willing to do anything. and simply just wants to get into these towns/areas to work and EARN THE BIG BUCKS!! Thanks everyone who helps us out here.
I would like a GIS job outside the US working with Natural Resources. Are there resources to make contacts? I am using GIS as an archaeologist now; however, I have always hoped to expand my field to natural resources in general. I also have degrees in agriculture and biology. Where can I find lists, contacts, and other resources that will point me to firms, commissions, or other agencies outside the US who need people with both a background in GIS and the environoment? Basic web searches provide a lot of information, but I was hoping to work around the "junk" most web searches provide.
